(St. Paul, Minn.) March 6, 2012 - American Public Media (APM) today announced the promotion of Mike Reszler, managing director of digital strategies, to the newly-created position of vice president for digital media. Reszler will be responsible for APM's Public Insight Network (PIN), as well as for all APM digital programming and product development.

"Mike is a strong champion of APM's Public Insight Network, digital innovation, and high-quality journalism and programming," said APM chief operating officer Dave Kansas. "He is superbly suited to focus our digital resources on projects and products that strengthen all three, and to help PIN and its partners deepen relationships with audiences, sources and each other."

An alumnus of Knight Ridder and MediaNews Group, he's also worked on the front lines as a reporter, managing editor, and senior editor. At Knight Ridder, he oversaw the online coverage of Hurricane Katrina, for which the Biloxi Sun Herald won the Pulitzer Prize. Reszler joined MPR in November, 2007, as managing editor for online news.

A native of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Reszler earned a B.A. from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, a M.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and he is A.B.D. in history from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, CA.
