St. Paul Native and Wall Street Journal Alum to Focus on Strategic Service Growth

(St. Paul, Minn.) July 13, 2011—American Public Media Group, parent company of Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media, announced today that David Kansas has accepted the position of chief operating officer. Kansas, a Wall Street Journal veteran and digital startup pioneer who grew up in St. Paul, will succeed Jon McTaggart, who took over as CEO on July 1.

"Finding a talented leader to be our next COO has been one of my top priorities since the day that learned I would be the next president of APMG," said McTaggart. "Dave has terrific journalistic and executive management experience. In addition to his strengths as an award-winning journalist, his experience building and leading innovative digital media companies and his strategic planning and business development skills will make him a great addition to our strong senior team." The selection of Kansas follows a national search that attracted more than 100 highly-qualified candidates to the open position.

Kansas also was editor of Money and Investing, and was on the founding team of TheStreet.com where his positions included executive vice president, executive editor and chief strategic officer. He is the author of several books, including The Wall Street Journalís Guide to the End of Wall Street as We Know It and TheStreet.com's Guide to Investing in the Digital Age. Kansas holds a bachelor's degree in American History from Columbia College in New York.
