A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION RETURNS TO
THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR ON SEPTEMBER 2nd

Friday-evening Grandstand show will be nonstop fun with Garrison Keillor,
the Jayhawks, Sara Watkins, dueling sound-effects men, and much more.

(SAINT PAUL, Minn.) — Just a few weeks before host Garrison Keillor launches A Prairie Home Companion's 38th season, he makes a visit to the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand on Friday, September 2nd, at 7:45 p.m. We predict the thrill of the roller coaster, without the G-force; the romance of Ye Old Mill, without the water; the fun of cotton candy, without the calories.

Special guests include Nickel Creek alum Sara Watkins and Minneapolis alt-country favorites the Jayhawks, who are making their first APHC appearance. Actress Sue Scott and Tim Russell (the man of many voices) will be on hand, as will both of Prairie Home's sound-effects wizards, Tom Keith and Fred Newman, and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, led by Richard Dworsky.

Find out what's been going on in Lake Wobegon, during Garrison Keillor's signature monologue, and catch up with cowboys Dusty and Lefty and private eye Guy Noir. And right after the show, ooh and aah at the spectacular State Fair fireworks (weather permitting).

In other news, September 17th marks the official season opener of A Prairie Home Companion at the Fitzgerald Theater — immediately followed by the annual Street Dance and Meatloaf Supper. Tickets for the fall run at the Fitzgerald — September 24 and October 1, 8, 15, and 22 — are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or in person at the Fitzgerald Theater Box Office. Visit www.prairiehome.org for more information.

A Prairie Home Companion is heard by some 4 million listeners on nearly 600 public radio stations nationwide, as well as on XM Radio, the Armed Forces Network Europe, the Far East Network, and in dozens of European cities via the Astra satellite network.

The program is produced by Prairie Home Productions and presented by American Public Media. The show is sponsored nationally Ford. Audio clips, scripts, and more information on A Prairie Home Companion can be found online at www.prairiehome.org.
